Politics Roundup: AsoRumble, Melaye in soup and Fayose plays big brother to Mr President
The plot thickens as we are getting close to the general elections in 2019. Here are some of the political news making the headlines this week.
Melaye is at it again
Melaye took to his Twitter to announce his arrest by immigration officers at the Airport. He also claims that his house is under siege by men of the police force who want to kill him. For now, no one knows what Melaye’s offence is but the immunity clause ought to be working for him as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The security operatives blocked one end of the street with a Toyota Hiace bus with tinted glasses and Abuja number plate, RSH 193 TP, and a pick-up at the other end.They also prevented persons in the building from going out, but later allowed family members, friends and guests to enter and exit the premises.
Police side of the story;
We have invited him twice, but he refused to honour our summonses, that is why we have sent our men to arrest him. They are at his residence and they will not leave until they have apprehended him.
We would know who is saying the truth soon.
Fayose praises Nigerian youths
The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, described Nigerian youths as the best in the world, lamenting that the underprivileged among them have had to struggle hard to make it in an environment without viable and equal opportunities. Maybe Fayose is right but not too sure about the intent of the statement.
Fayose made the statement when he addressed the 2,300 corps members deployed in Ekiti. He urged them to keep hope alive as a new, younger and energetic leader would soon emerge to better their lot. Is he referring to himself?
Saraki, Tambuwal won’t join PDP, says Jigawa gov
Some weeks ago, I mentioned that the aftermath of Mr. President picking the second term agenda would mean others who are vying for the position think of leaving the party. Jigawa Governor claims Saraki and Tambuwal wont be dumping APC for PDP. But the Governor ought to speak about himself. You can’t be so sure what others are thinking.
