Young musicians you need to know in Nigeria

The music industry is becoming a saturated sector and new kids on the block are finding it hard to have their voice had. We bring you, top young musicians, you should be looking out for, soon enough they would be making waves.

King Perryy

Recently signed to DM records owned by Timaya has a fresh sound and a blend of Afro Dancehall with influences from Popcaan, Gyptian, Shabba Ranks and Timaya. The singer has released Man on Duty, among other songs. King Perryy, real name – Anthony Offiah, is an Afro Dancehall recording artiste from Enugu, Nigeria. Born April 28th, 1994 in Port Harcourt, he grew up greatly influenced by music by the great Bob Marley, Sean Paul, Westlife and Alex Zitto. He started making music professionally in 2014 and has released several songs over the years including the Alex Zitto inspired ‘Walakolombo’.

Bella Alubo

Mabel Oine Alubo, whose stage name is BELLA, is a Nigerian recording and performing artist. She was born on August 9th, 1993 in Jos, Plateau, Nigeria. The First Lady of Tinny Entertainment Africa believes the new age Africans want to see something fresh and different, and foreigners want to have a feel of the African sound. She has so far developed a niche in a ‘new sound’. She released her first EP “Bella” in November 2015 and Bella 2.0 in 2016. Bella feels there is a gap among female musicians and she wants to fill that gap and motivate young ladies to join her.

Minz

Oluwadamilola Aminu (MINZ) is a young Nigerian singer, rapper and producer who hails from Oyo State. His music definitely appeals to young Nigerians with his sweet melodious sound. He gets inspiration from all that he has been through in life, he says, because it pushes him to succeed. Also, legendary musical acts such as the late Fela Anikulakpo Kuti, Christy Igbokwe and the new skool artistes with the likes of Wizkid, Wande Coal, Boogey, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Z as well as Eminem all inspire his music. He has a production in the works which features Oritse Femi.

Maka

Maka Sam-Ejehu is a soul singer and a multi-talented artiste. With a background in Law, Maka is a full-time musician who has shared stages with artists like Bez, Simi, Mi Casa among others, she’s graced the Felabration stage in Lagos and headlined her first solo concert in Abuja and Lagos in 2016 to launch her first EP “The Truth”. She has several songs under her belt from By your side to Circle to Happy to Long Road.
