Sports Wrap-up: UNL gives World Champions a shaky start
The 2018/2019 UEFA Nations League kicked off yesterday which saw different countries showcase their squads.
For those who do not know what this league is all about , here is a quick explanation.
The 2018/2019 UEFA Nations League is the inaugural season of the UEFA Nations League, an international association football competition involving the men’s national teams.
The competition which is being held from September to November 2018 (League phase) and June 2019 (Nations League Finals). It will also seed teams for the qualification process of UEFA Euro 2020 and also award berths in play-offs.
The biggest match of the night saw Germany face France the world champions in which the French side had little or no clear cut chance to win the game.
The German side were definitely ruthless but couldn’t convert their scoring chances as the game ended in a goalless draw.
The German head coach said his team played well and would perform much better in future matches to come.
Results form other games saw Ukraine, Wales, Bulgaria, Norway, Georgia, Armenia and FYR Macedonia win their matches.
More matches will be played later today with Italy facing Poland.
For me I would say CAF should also conduct a competition like this in Africa so that we get to see our National teams play often.
