Word on the Street: Omoni Oboli and AY star in Hollywood animation, YBNL to release album in December and more

Friends, the weekend is around the corner and I’m here for it. Fun fact; did you know that Hello Kitty is actually a human named Kitty White? She enjoys dressing up as a cat who looks suspiciously similar to her pet cat Charmmy Kitty.

I’m not sure how that fact helps you but I saw it somewhere and decided to share it with you. Now to the business at hand!

Omoni Oboli and AY Makun to make Hollywood Debut

The two Nigerian Nollywood stars (I know, AY is also a comedian) reportedly starred in a Hollywood animation titled Elliott: The Littlest Reindeer.

The report, according to the News Agency of Nigeria is not exactly sure what their roles are in the movie but the Christmas-themed movie also stars voices of popular Hollywood actors including Josh Hutcherson, Morena Baccarin, Jeff Dunham, Martin Short and John Cleese.

This is great news but I hope it is not like the fake gist of Funke Akindele starring as a Dora Milaje in Avengers: Infinity War. I’m not even playing.

Presidency slashes JAMB and other examinations registration fees

From January 2019 the registration fee for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination will be reduced from ₦5,000 to ₦3,500, that charged by the National Examination Council (NECO) will go from ₦11,350 to ₦9,850. The Basic Education certificate also handled by NECO will be reduced from ₦5,500 to ₦4,000.

This downward review of examination registration fees was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday.

Apparently, these examination boards have been cashing out from registration fees from time immemorial and the federal government has had just about enough.

Or it could be a ploy to entice votes from Nigerians since elections are coming. Either way, there’s been a price slash that will benefit secondary school leavers.

YBNL to release a new album in December

YBNL boss Olamide has announced that the debut YBNL Mafia family album will be released on December 7 ahead of the fifth edition of his Olamide Live in Concert, OLIC5 scheduled to hold on December 23.

He made this announcement on his Instagram page on Monday.

The album is set to feature the entire YBNL family including its recent signings; Picazo Rhap and Yomi Blaze. Watch out!

Oby Ezekwesili picks a running mate

For the 2019 presidential elections, the Allied Congress Party (ACPN) candidate will be running with Abdul-Ganiyu Galadima, who also happens to be the chairman of the party.

According to Mummy Oby, she chose Galadima because of his experience in grassroot politics and his integrity, among other things.

Galadima, a Kwara state indigene is a businessman and a community leader. He has run for the presidential seat in the past under ACPN.

He studied Public Administration at the Kwara state Polytechnic Ns later served as a member of the school’s governing body.

Looks like a good enough team. Think they have a shot at the polls come 2019? Let me know in the comments section.

Dahsall. See you Monday, don’t miss me too much.
