From Music to Nollywood’s Hottest Actor, Falz is everything
Falz has it all, an enviable career. He would be 28 in a few days, achieving his dreams in an unusual manner.
Sure, he has made it as a musician — his work with Yemi Alade was my first encounter with the musician. But what makes Falz different from the lot is the persona he has created on social media. These videos are usually voiced by his alter ego, Broda Taju from Ilawe-Ekiti, Ekiti State. He has consciously created this brand that can not be disputed on and off social media. He is one of the originals that leaves you speechless.

His first stint at Nollywood got him his first ever AMVCA award. He remains the only musician with two AMVCA awards. Just because he was uncomfortable and wanted more out of life. No doubt, Falz is a talented man but his fans have admiration for his personality. Falz found a way to promote his song in a cost-effective way by creating narratives to every song. It is beyond just singing or rapping but a narrative. No wonder he found it easy in Nollywood because he is a storyteller himself.
In Hollywood, we have seen so many musicians who switch lanes to act in movies and do just fine. In Nigeria, we don’t get to see that often. However, Falz is showing us how it is done, from his role in Jenifa diary to New Money or the latest movie in town — The MerryMen: Yoruba Demons. He has won the hearts of directors, I think Falz has the potential to do so much, the best of him is yet to come. Falz is probably the most versatile artist in this decade,
Falz’ father is Femi Falana a renowned Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist. From ‘This is Nigeria’ to ‘Child of the World’ basically meant he is following his father’s footsteps by using his craft to advocate for human rights.
Falz looks like he is just getting started with his career and his fans are not leaving him anytime soon.
