On Sports Today !
The month of October has been filled with a whole lot of everything, from the Good to the Bad and Ugly. Let me quickly give a summary of the happenings in the world of sports.
The Special Eagles Lose their Opening Match
This was not the type of start the Special Eagles were hoping for in their debut in the Amputee World Cup in Mexico. The Special Eagles were given a 6 – 0 thrashing by Brazil who outplayed them. The Special Eagles who missed the last three World Cups due to a lack of finances, took to crowd-funding earlier this month to help them to travel to compete in this year’s tournament.
Although the team’s coordinator was pleased with their performance, He assured fans that the team’s spirit was back up and that they would be looking to cause an upset against the defending champions(Russia) in their second match later today. Ghana, Kenya, Liberia and Angola are the continent’s other representatives in Mexico.
Leicester City opens a book of condolences for chairman
Leicester City has opened a book of condolences for fans who want to pay their respects to owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha who passed away on Saturday after a Helicopter Accident. They have also made an online book for those who wish to pay tributes but cannot make it to the stadium.
Supporters and players gathered to remember Khun Vichai on Monday night, sharing a hushed silence for a man many saw as the heart of a family that included not just the club but the city itself. May his soul rest in peace.
Real Madrid sends Julen Lopetegui Packing
Julen Lopetegui has been sacked by Real Madrid after just 4 months of being in charge of the Spanish giants. This sack came as a result of back to back run of poor results with the humiliating loss to Barcelona on Sunday as the icing on the cake.
Former player and Castilla reserve team boss Santiago Solari has been put in caretaker charge till a new coach is employed.
I feel that this run of bad results is still a result of the departure of their former star man C. Ronaldo and the big shoes the players have to fill in his absence.
Man City’s Unbeaten Run Continues
Manchester City seemed to have managed and adapted the playing conditions at Wembley stadium last night against Tottenham Hotspurs which gave them all the 3 points. Riyad Mahrez’s sixth-minute goal was the only goal and decider of the mouth-watering fixture which sent Man City back to the top of the table on goal difference.
Spurs were forced to host this game just 24 hours after the Philadelphia Eagles played the Jacksonville Jaguars in an NFL game at Wembley and the pitch was poor, both visually and technically.
This is all I can cover for now. Do have a lovely week and stay safe.
