On Sports Today: NRA issues warnings
The Nigeria Referees Association has threatened to withdraw its members from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) following repeated attacks on referees in the league.
On match day one of this new season, the referee who officiated the match involving Plateau United in Jos was assaulted while the referees who officiated the match involving Remo States in Ogun state were also brutally beaten.
None of the culprits have been caught as investigations are still ongoing. Kwara United are currently top of group A standings while Heartland FC are top of group B standings.
Former Super Eagles Star has been Jailed.
Super Eagles former defender, Efe Sodje and two of his brothers have been jailed for siphoning tens of thousands of pounds from a charity set up to help poor African children, reports telegraph.co.uk.
Efe, 46, fellow footballer Stephen Sodje, 43, and ex-rugby player, Bright Sodje, 52, were condemned by a judge for bringing “shame on their family” as they were convicted of milking their own fundraising campaign, the Sodje Sports Foundation (SSF).
