On Sports Today!
It is another session in my world of sports! A whole lot of action has gone down and more will still go down today in the champions league. Let us kick off with NBA as the playoff season is about to start.
It is now safe to say that the Los Angels Lakers will not be going into the playoff rounds as they failed to qualify during the regular NBA season as they currently lie in 10th position. That automatically means that Lebron James would not appear in this year’s episode of the playoffs.
As if that was not sad enough, Magic Johnson stunned the basketball world when he announced that he was stepping down as president of the Los Angeles Lakers in an unplanned news conference before the team’s season finale Tuesday night at Staples Center. The Lakers have a whole of thinking to do as their offseason starts.
The Thunder gave their fans a grand ending as they came back to win at home to the Rockets with a last minute 3 pointer shot from PG13. Russell Westbrook found Paul George who hits the corner 3-pointer with 1.8 seconds left to give Oklahoma City the 112-111 win vs. Houston. Westbrook also made a triple-double in a third straight match.
The conference standings are below.
Tottenham Hotspurs proved that without heir injured tallies man, they can still cause upsets as they beat Manchester City at home on Tuesday night in their first leg quarterfinals match. As Harry Kane hobbled down the tunnel 11 minutes into the second half of Tottenham’s Champions League quarterfinal against Manchester City, unable to walk on his injured ankle after a reckless challenge on Fabian Delph, the immediate conclusion would have been that his team’s hope of a place in the semifinals had disappeared with him.
When Son Heung-Min scored the only goal of the game on 78 minutes to secure Spurs a 1-0 first-leg lead, it was a reminder that the South Korea international is more than capable of emerging from Kane’s shadow.
Liverpool took a vital win at home against Porto in their champions league quarterfinals match on Tuesday night. Goals from Keita(who has not been so consistent on till 3 matches ago) and Firmino put Liverpool in a very good position to qualify for the semis. They will be looking forward to completing their victory when they go to Portugal for the 2nd leg.
This episode has come to an end. Do have a beautiful day and make sure you put a smile on someone’s face today.
